Ethics Requirements for PA Physical Therapists

During each biennial renewal period, a licensee shall complete qualifying continuing education equal to at least 30 contact hours of continuing physical therapy education, including at least 2 contact hours in law or ethics applicable to the practice of physical therapy, and at least 2 contact hours in child abuse recognition and reporting in accordance with §  40.208(b) (relating to child abuse recognition and reporting—mandatory training requirement).

Our Ethics Course

Let’s Get Ethical: Ethical Boundaries for PTs/OTs is a 2.5 hour continuing education course approved by the PA Board of Physical Therapy Board #PTPR016505. It fulfills a PA physical therapist or physical therapist assistant’s continuing education ethics requirement. The course is offered either live virtually or on-demand.

Course Objectives

By the end of Let’s Get Ethical: Ethical Boundaries for PTs/OTs, participants will be able to

  1. Identify ethical principles of the code of ethics of both the APTA and AOTA to practice in a more ethical manner.
  2. Analyze the boundaries of ethical principles for physical and occupational therapists to help resolve ethical dilemmas in professional practice.
  3. Apply the APTA ethical principles and course methodology to ethically gray situations, as evidenced by answering a case study question.
  4. Apply the AOTA ethical principles and course methodology to ethically gray situations, as evidenced by answering a case study question.
