Ethics Requirements for NJ Physical Therapists

In New Jersey, licensees must complete a 1.5-credit Jurisprudence Assessment Module offered by one of the sponsors listed on the New Jersey State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners’ website for the jurisprudence portion of the requirement. Licensees can complete any ethics course (distance learning or live) of 2.5 credits or more to meet the four-credit jurisprudence and professional ethics requirement.

Our Ethics Course

Let’s Get Ethical: Ethical Boundaries for PTs/OTs is a 2.5 hour continuing education course approved by the NJ Board of Physical Therapy Board #2110-14. It fulfills and NJ physical therapist or physical therapist assistant’s continuing education ethics requirement. The course is offered either live virtually or on-demand.

Course Objectives

By the end of Let’s Get Ethical: Ethical Boundaries for PTs/OTs, participants will be able to

  1. Identify ethical principles of the code of ethics of both the APTA and AOTA to practice in a more ethical manner.
  2. Analyze the boundaries of ethical principles for physical and occupational therapists to help resolve ethical dilemmas in professional practice.
  3. Apply the APTA ethical principles and course methodology to ethically gray situations, as evidenced by answering a case study question.
  4. Apply the AOTA ethical principles and course methodology to ethically gray situations, as evidenced by answering a case study question.
